A/B testing

Data-driven method used to compare two or more versions of a website or an app to determine which performs better against a specific goal, such as increased sales or conversions. It involves randomly dividing an audience into groups, showing each group a different variant, and then measuring user interactions to identify the superior version based on key metrics like click-through rate, conversion rate, or bounce rate.

API – Application Programming Interface

A set of rules and protocols that allows software applications to communicate with each other. In travel, APIs enable seamless integration of booking systems, payment solutions, and content distribution.

Booking channels

Different platforms, whether that is the hotel's own website, OTAs, GDS or metasearch engines. These channels are leveraged to accept and process reservations, and to drive regular revenue streams. They represent a hugely important part of distribution for hotels.

Bounce Rate

The percentage of website visitors who leave after viewing only one page. A high bounce rate can signal poor UX, irrelevant content, or slow loading times.

Content distribution

Metasearch engine

A platform that aggregates prices and availability from multiple online travel agencies (OTAs), hotel websites, and booking engines, allowing users to compare options in one place. Examples include Trivago, Kayak, and Google Hotels.

OTA – Online Travel Agency

A digital platform that sells travel services such as hotels, flights, or vacation packages directly to consumers. Examples include Booking.com, Expedia, and Airbnb.

Reliability

A measure of how consistently a system, service, or platform performs as expected, often expressed as a percentage of uptime or successful operations.

SEO – Search Engine Optimization

The process of improving a website’s visibility in search engine results. SEO helps increase organic traffic through optimized content, structure, and keywords.

Short-form video

Video content that is typically under one minute, designed for quick consumption. Short-form videos are highly engaging and well suited for social media and booking platforms.

Streaming

The continuous delivery of video or audio content over the internet in real time, without requiring the user to download the file.
